RichardsoNEyres Issues Green Study

August 26, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center infrastructure provider RichardsoNEyres (richardsoneyres.co.uk) announced on Tuesday it released new research that reveal that many data center operators are not taking green issues seriously enough and are adopting a do-it-yourself approach.

Conducted in association with industry analysts IDL, the RichardsoNEyres report highlights the main data center challenges IT managers are currently facing and includes a six-step action plan to help businesses overcome these issues.

The challenges start with a infrastructure and data center review in an effort to devise an action plan to simultaneously reduce cost, improve performance and reduce environmental impact. (more…)

Amenworld Adds New Green Servers

August 12, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — European web hosting provider Amenworld (amenworld.com) announced on Tuesday that a recent study of over 3,500 dedicated servers revealed that on average servers needlessly use 1000 kWh of energy, producing an excess of 632Kg of CO2 per server per year. 

According to the company, the amount of energy wasted is the equivalent of “2643 jumbo jets each carrying 423 passengers flying to India and back or one person making over a million return trips to India in a year.”
 
The results of this research has compelled Amenworld to launch of a new range of servers in the UK entitled Eco Range that use only half the power of conventional servers.
