Q&A: Con Zwinkels, LeaseWeb
In an email interview with the WHIR, LeaseWeb managing director Con Zwinkels discusses his company’s “green” practices through its EvoSwitch data center, as well as the environmentally friendly efforts of the hosting and data center industries at large.

October 17, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — As environmental concerns continue to be raised within the IT industry, Netherlands-based Web hosting provider LeaseWeb (www.leaseweb.com) has gone to great lengths in its eco-friendly practices.
Last year, LeaseWeb put 500 racks into use at its new carrier-independent and carbon neutral data center EvoSwitch (www.evoswitch.com). In total, LeaseWeb manages 1,500 cabinets and more than 11,000 servers located in five different data centers. (more…)

EvoSwitch Expands Green Facility
June 19, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center operator EvoSwitch (evoswitch.com) announced on Thursday that is has successfully completed the second phase of its Amsterdam data center expansion, adding an additional 2,000 square meters of space.
The expansion is the culmination of selling out the first phase of its data center and a continuous demand for rack space. Among those customers include European network and data center services company Infonet Nederland, who placed 42 cabinets in April, and Leaseweb, who placed 500 racks in March.
EvoSwitch spent nine million euros on this second phase, which adds 2,000 square meters of additional floor surface to the 2,000 square meters that is already available.
