CommVault Joins The Green Grid

August 25, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data management software and service provider CommVault (commvault.com) has joined The Green Grid (thegreengrid.org), a global organization committed to improve data center and business computing energy efficiency.

Open to IT professionals with an interest in addressing global energy consumption issues, The Green Grid was created in early 2007 to develop industry-wide standards, measuring methods, processes and new technologies to improve the energy efficiency of data center and business computing.

According to the announcement from New Jersey-based CommVault, its Simpana 7.0 software suite “helps customers implement sustainable ‘Green’ data center strategies,” demonstrating CommVault’s commitment to developing more energy efficient data centers. EDSA Offers PUE-DCiE-Based Platform

August 22, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Power analytics software developer EDSA announced on Thursday it has released its PaladinLive PUE-DCiE Advisor, the first power analytics software program that calculates and presents power efficiency ratings using standards developed by The Green Grid.

The Green Grid is a global organization that strives to advance energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems through developing and promoting standards, measurement methods, processes and new technologies to improve data center performance against the defined metrics.

The Green Grid, ASHRAE Collaborate

August 21, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — The Green Grid (thegreengrid.org), a global consortium dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems, announced on Wednesday that it will be working with the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ashrae.org), or ASHRAE, to produce documents providing guidance on data center design.
 
According to the recent announcement on ASHRAE’s website, “the cooperative publication agreement between ASHRAE and The Green Grid encourages the sharing of technical information, particularly guidance regarding energy efficiency, between the two groups.”

The Green Grid works to provide industry wide recommendations and best practices on metrics and technologies that will improve energy efficiency in data centers around the world.

The organization already has a growing database of white papers and this new collaborative effort with ASHRAE will help to expand The Green Grid’s catalog of “green” information.

Extreme Networks Joins Green Grid
